Construction accident at Illinois high school kills 1

A construction accident in Piasa claimed the life of a 33-year-old man from Beecher City on August 4 at Southwestern High School, located in Macoupin County. He was employed by the Midstate Construction and Roofing Company and fell while working on the school's roof.

The news source did not detail the events that led up to the fatal accident. The county coroner pronounced him dead around noon, and federal safety and labor officials were reportedly investigating the incident.

Unfortunately, deadly accidents occur at construction sites due to the dangers inherent in that labor. The state of Illinois entitles workers who have been injured on the job to monetary benefits from workers' compensation claims. Through the claim, employers are obliged to provide their injured workers with regular payments to cover their medical expenses and income losses during the recovery period.

In instances where a worker dies at the workplace, his or her family can receive death benefits via a workers' compensation claim to assist with that person's funeral costs. The families of those who have died in work-related accidents can also receive payments that cover a portion of the income the family received before the worker died.

Sometimes workers and their families will face hardships as they try to file for workers' compensation claims. In the event that a worker or family member has been denied a claim or the payments from one have been delayed or decreased, an attorney who understands the reporting requirements and deadlines involved in workers' compensation claims could assist those parties with seeking redress.
