An Illinoisan through and through, attorney Nick Karayannis earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. In law school, he was an active member of the of the Hellenic Law Student Association where he served as a board member, furthering his connection with his Greek heritage. He also worked in several different legal fields while in law school. He first worked as clerk to Justice Robert Spence of the Second District Court of Appeals for the State of Illinois, where he applied his legal research and writing skills to draft an opinion which was ultimately published. He next worked for the law firm of Angelini & Ori, LLC, where gained experience in civil litigation working under the supervision of licensed attorneys. Finally, during his 3L year, he worked as a 711 licensed legal extern at the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office (“KCSAO”), where he got hands-on experience litigating cases.

After law school, Nick continued his work with the KCSAO, where he worked for two years. During his time at the KCSAO, Nick tried numerous cases, conducted many hearings, and spent the majority of his time inside of courtrooms participating in the criminal justice system. Specifically, Nick spent significant time in the domestic violence courtroom, where he advocated for victims of domestic violence. Nick’s daily exposure to litigation at the KCSAO has equipped him with knowledge and experience that cannot be replicated.

Nick’s passion for helping the injured ultimately led him to leave the state’s attorney for private practice.  Nick joined FMCO in 2021 and focuses his practice in workers’ compensation and personal injury claims.  Nick’s substantial experience in the court room affords him a keen understanding of the importance of evaluating elements of a case, creating a case theory and theme and understanding what needs to be done for a successful trial.

Nick is a member of the Kane County Bar Association (“KCBA”), the Chicago Bar Association (“CBA”), and the Illinois State Bar Association (“ISBA”). He is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.
